Year 3 and 4 News

Year 3 news 16.09.24

Year 3 have had a fantastic week! Everyone has put in 110% in our practice for the Harvest festival and Mr Williams and Mrs Beesley have been blown away by the dedication. In Maths, we have been continuing to look at place value where we estimated numbers on a number line. In English we have been focusing on irregular and regular verbs. Music has been focusing on ballads and creating a story map for a particular song which all children have worked hard on. Mrs Beesley and Mr Williams have been incredible impressed with the behaviour around the school from Year 3. They have continued to use their manners and opened doors for adults and children without being asked. Keep up the hard work! We will continue to spend each day practing for our Harvest festival. It has been a pleasure to see Year 3 enjoying the community garden activities. Please make sure to bring in old shoes or wellies incase it rains!

Well done to all the children completing their homework on time and for accessing TTRS daily!

This week, 4K have truly shined! Every afternoon, the children have been in the pool, and Mrs Kavanagh has been absolutely blown away by their dedication and patience. The students demonstrated incredible focus when tested underwater and showed great courage and skill when diving. It's been a week full of challenges, but 4K have risen to meet each one with enthusiasm and determination. Well done, 4K! In English we have been focusing on the verb 'to be' and identifying the appropriate verb in a sentence. In Music, we have continued to create rhythms using body percussion, focusing on the sounds we hear in the rainforests.

Keep up the amazing work and commitment to your learning! We continue to be impressed with your kind manners and respect shown around the school. It has been noticed! It has been a delight to watch the Year 4's in the communiy garden and remember 4T's swimming will begin week commencing 30th October.

Year 5 and 6 News

Year 5

A super busy week again in Year 5. We have continued to develop our observational skills, spending a lovely afternoon outside, drawing the school building. We thought about how LS Lowry used perspective and also focused on making sure our use of proportion was accurate.

In our RE lesson we compared the Christian 10 Commandments with those of the Jewish religion and their 613 Mitzvot’s (commandments). We discovered many similarities between the two religions. We then wrote about our own rules to live by – how would we live a good life and what would our rules to follow be?

Music was loud this week, 30 children all playing a musical instrument in a classroom. We looked a musical notation and how many beats each note is worth …and then we tried to all play together.

Year 6

Another fantastic week for Year 6! We are so proud of their mature attitidue towards thier baseline SATs assesments and how they approached them very calmly which was amazing to see.

In Science this week, we learnt about the acronym MRS GREN and the

five kingdoms of life and how they are a way of grouping living organisms based on their characteristics and evolutionary relationships.

In English, we have been learning about verb types and how they change depending on whether they are singular or plural.

In PE, we have continued our gymnastic topic focusing on different types of balances this week.

The children loved art and music this week, continuing to work on sound waves to show texture in music and trying out a new drawing skill 'continuous line' when completing observational drawings of our partners.

Keep up the amazing work Year 6! You have been amazing so far.

A remainder that some children from both Year 6 classes will be swimming next week, please remember your swimming kits.
