Year 3 News

It has been an exciting week in Year 3 with the start of our STEM week and we celebrated World Book Day with a range of fun, book-related activities. The children had the opportunity to learn how to illustrate a book, take part in a virtual lesson about how to choose the right book for them, and even create their own unique bookmarks to take home. It was fantastic to see their enthusiasm for reading and creativity shine through!

In Maths, we have been working hard on measurement, focusing on converting millimeters to centimeters and centimeters to meters. On Friday, we kicked off STEM Week with a variety of interactive Maths games that helped to reinforce our understanding of addition, subtraction, and times tables. The children had a great time challenging themselves and each other in these problem-solving activities.

In Science, we explored food labels, discussing the different types of information they provide and why they are important for making healthy choices. The children were fascinated to learn about the nutritional values of different foods and enjoyed investigating real-life food packaging.

In PE, we continued developing our skills in Goalball and Tennis, working on coordination, accuracy, and teamwork. Luckily, the weather has been kind to us, allowing us to take our lessons outside and make the most of the fresh air. It has been a fantastic week of learning and we hope you have a wonderful weekend! Year 3 are excited for our upcoming Roman trip on Tuesday!

Year 4 News

We've had a fantastic week filled with exciting experiences! Our Barstondale residential trip was a huge success, with children taking part in thrilling activities such as archery, rifle shooting, tent making, abseiling, rock climbing, and much more. The children loved every moment of their overnight adventure, showing great teamwork and resilience.

We also celebrated World Book Day, where the children had the amazing opportunity to take part in a workshop with an artist, creating some wonderful monster drawings. In addition, we joined a live read-along with thousands of other children from schools across the country! The children thoroughly enjoyed this collaborative experience.

To top it off, we welcomed parents into our maths lessons as part of the first day of STEM Week, joining in with some fun and engaging arithmetic games. A huge thank you to everyone who participated and made it such a fantastic experience!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Year 5

What a great week! Year 5 have continued to impress us with their attitude to school and their kindness to each other.

We enjoyed World Book Day so much - the children looked amazing dressed in their costumes. It was great to see such a variety of different characters from our favourite books represented. We completed quizzes, mindful colouring and some reading for pleasure. We loved completing our beautiful artwork based around our English text ‘The Last Bear’, we can’t wait for you to see them.

We’ve also completed the next lesson in our history unit. We looked at artefacts from the Kingdom of Benin. We needed to judge whether they were reliable or not and what we thought each artefact was used for and who it was owned by.

We ended the week with parents joining us for some maths games. It was fun playing games and improving our arithmetic skills. We loved having extra grown ups to help us, we hope you enjoyed it too - thanks for coming in.
