Year 3 and 4 News

Year 3 News 09.09.2024

Year 3 have had a fantastic second week! It has been noticed that Year 3 have had such fantastic manners and are using their positive learning habits throughout the school. Well done! They have been working hard with answering a variety of place values problems in Maths, exploring and discussing tricky vocabulary in reading and have been continuing to explore and use nouns and verbs in a variety of sentence forms. Mrs Beesley and Mr Williams have been impressed by all the dedication and hard work Year 3 have been putting into every single lesson throughout this week. We have been working on sketching and shading in Art where the children have been creating some beautiful pieces of artwork where they are finishing half of an animals face. In Science, we have been looking at forces especially push, pull and twist forces and when we use those forces in our day to day life. Homework and reading books have officially been handed out this week so make sure to complete it by Thursday. Also, please keep up with TTRS homework as everyone now has their logins. Please remember to bring in wellies/ old shoes and a waterproof jacket for our community garden activities! Keep up the hard work Year 3!

Year 4 News 09.09.2024

It has been another fantastic week in Year 4! Both classes have settled in well to the routines and have been so polite and using good manners around the school.

This week, we have focusing on mentally adding numbers and revising the long multiplication method in maths. The children have been working hard to add without using written methods! Every week the children complete a Times Tables check, and already we have seen such an improvement! Keep up the practicing at home! In Music, children have been using their own body percussion to rehearse some songs with their partner and in Art the children have been re-creating ‘Richard’ Miller’s ceramic art! The children have created some amazing masterpieces!

Next week children must bring in their wellies or old schools and waterproof jackets as activities for the community garden will be outside. Keep up the excellent work Year 4 and have a great weekend!

Year 5 and 6 News

Year 5

Another super week from the Year 5 children.

This week we have been showing our understanding of music. We have been ‘Walking like an Egyptian’ analysing the structure of a well-known 1980s classic - identifying the instruments that are used to play it. We then had a go at composing our own piece, using symbols to represent many different sounds including our voices, tapping our feet or clapping our hands.

We have continued looking at the art of LS Lowry and this week created our own versions. The children worked hard to use one-point perspective and even tried some shading of their final piece.

Year 6

What a fantastic week for Year 6! We are so impressed with their behaviour and attitude towards their learning. They have shown us that they can collaborate well with their peers as well as being inspiration towards others which are two of our new MAT values. Please look at the photographs this week which demonstrate these values adn the children who made it onto our class recognition boards.

This week, we have been learning about nouns adn verbs in English. We have enjoyed continuing to read our class story and are still hooked and cannot wait to read more next week! In maths, we have been focusing on long multiplication and division. We have continued to learn about Islam in RE as well as gymnastics in PE. In art, we have been completing observational drawings of each other using the skills of tone and shading.

In geography, we are looking at a variety of cities and industries in the UK.

Keep up the good work Year 6 and have a fabulous weekend!
