Year 3 News

This week has been a fantastic and busy one in Year 3! The children worked incredibly hard to complete their Spring assessments, showing great resilience and determination. In PE, they continued developing their tennis and golf skills, focusing on accuracy, coordination, and technique. In RE, we explored the Easter Story in Christianity, discussing its significance and key events. Science was all about skeletons, as we learned about endoskeletons, exoskeletons, and hydrostatic skeletons, identifying which animals have them and how they help with movement and protection. In Music, we started learning about Chinese New Year, focusing on how music plays a key role in celebrations and moving to the rhythm. The highlight of the week was Friday’s dress-up day, where the children looked fantastic in their 80s, 90s, and 00s outfits and had an amazing time dancing at the lunchtime disco. Well done to everyone for a brilliant week—have a wonderful weekend!

Year 4 News

Year 4 has had a fantastic week of learning! In Maths, the children have been exploring equivalent fractions and learning how to simplify fractions, using fraction walls to support their understanding. In English, they have finished writing their adventure stories, and it has been wonderful to see their creative ideas blossom into fantastic pieces of writing. In Science, the children designed and created their own stringed instruments while exploring pitch, producing some truly amazing creations. In Music, they have been busy preparing for their upcoming ukulele performance, showcasing their developing skills. Meanwhile, in Spanish, they have been learning how to talk about the weather, enjoying practising their new vocabulary. To end the week, we celebrated Comic Relief, and it was fantastic to see all the wonderful fancy dress costumes in school. Well done, Year 4!

Year 5

A slightly different week for Year 5 but we were still as busy as usual.

This week has been careers week in Year 5 and across all our MAT schools. We have spent our afternoons this week listening to a variety of people talk about their jobs. Explaining what each entails and encouraging us to think about what we might want to be when we grow up. We heard from a research scientist who works in virology, a neighbourhood Police Officer, a pharmacy technician, someone who publishes video games and finally on Friday we heard from a ranger, who works at Thurstaston Country Park - they were all so different but all so interesting in their own way. And we still managed to learn about The betrayal of Jesus in RE!

We finished the week with Comic Relief day, raising money and dressing up for fun!

.. oh and we completed all our Spring term assessments too!
