The long-term plan sets out the PE units that are to be taught throughout the year and ensures that the requirements of the National Curriculum are fully met.

Pupils participate in two high-quality PE lessons each week, covering two sporting disciplines every half term. In addition, children are encouraged to participate in a varied range of extra-curricular activities. In years 4 and 6 pupils have opportunities to attend residential school trips which incorporate a wide of outdoor adventure skills such as archery, canoeing and orienteering.

Children in years 4 and 6 will have the opportunity to attend swimming lessons at Caldy Grammar School facilitated by specialised swimming instructors. These lessons will take place for one hour every afternoon for a week. Pupils who do not meet the national standard will be given a second opportunity to attend swimming lessons if numbers of children in the pool allow it.
