Intent
At Brackenwood Junior School we use the National Centre for Computing Education scheme (NCCE), this computing curriculum is designed with a clear intent to equip our pupils with essential digital skills and knowledge to thrive in a fast-paced, technology-driven world. Our computing curriculum is structured to develop computational thinking, creativity, and digital literacy among our pupils. We aim to build a love for technology and nurture our pupils into
responsible digital citizens. Our computing curriculum intends to ensure all pupils are not only competent users of technology but also creators who can harness its power to solve problems and express themselves creatively. This curriculum will meet all of our schools core values; citizenship, nurture, inspiration and collaboration.
Implementation
Our computing curriculum is meticulously planned and executed to provide a rich and engaging learning experience for our pupils. Our curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including coding, digital literacy, online safety, computer science and information technology. We integrate computing across the curriculum, embedding technology in subjects such as
English, mathematics, science, history, geography design technology and art to demonstrate real-life applications of computing skills. Pupils have access to a range of devices and software to explore and develop their digital skills. We provide opportunities for collaborative projects and participate in after-school coding clubs.
