Year 5
It's been another great week in Year 5. We have continued to enjoy learning about Chico Mendes and his fight to save the rainforest. We have started to write our own newspaper reports about the destruction of the Amazon Rainforest and how that will have an impact on the rest of the world.
This week, we have continued to learn more about the ‘Reformation of the Church’ and more about the people who were impacted by the changes. We have focused on the monks who would have lost their homes, jobs and their religion. We visited Birkenhead Priory and had a great time exploring the grounds, looking at the stone mason’s marks and the moat. We climbed the huge number of stairs in St Mary’s Tower, the view was incredible – we could see into the dock yards of Cammell Lairds and over the Mersey to Liverpool – a view the monks themselves would of seen as they rowed travellers across the Mersey.
