Year 3 News
It has been wonderful to welcome the children back after a long and restful Easter break. They’ve returned full of energy and enthusiasm, and we’ve had a fantastic start to the term. In English, we began exploring our new book The Wild Robot, where the children made predictions about the story and used drama to step into the characters’ shoes. In Maths, we’ve continued our work on fractions, focusing particularly on equivalent fractions. During Computing, the children have been learning how text and images can be used to communicate information effectively. In Art, we've been exploring primary and secondary colours, with the children enjoying mixing paints to create their own secondary shades. In Geography, we’ve been discovering where our food comes from around the world. Wishing you all a safe and restful weekend!
Year 4 NewsÂ
Welcome back, Year 4! We've had a brilliant (if short!) first week back and it's been lovely to see everyone return with such enthusiasm. A huge thank you to all the families and carers who came along to our ukulele concert – it was fantastic to see so many smiling faces in the audience, and the children's performance was absolutely wonderful!
In Maths, we've been exploring how to find fractions of an amount. The children have worked really hard to get to grips with dividing by the denominator and then multiplying by the numerator. Their confidence is growing each day and it’s been brilliant to see their resilience when tackling tricky problems.
In English, we've started planning diary entries ready to write in role as someone living in Pompeii at the time of the eruption. The children have shown so much imagination and creativity in their writing so far, using exciting and varied vocabulary, rhetorical questions and fronted adverbials to build tension and bring their ideas to life.
In History, we’ve begun our topic on Ancient Greece. This week, we focused on the life of Alexander the Great and his incredible achievements. The children were really engaged in learning about his conquests and how he became such a significant figure in history.
In PE, we've made a great start to our badminton unit. The children have been learning how to get into the ready position and have started developing the coordination and movement skills needed for the game. It’s been great to see their energy and enthusiasm on the court.
Have a lovely weekend!
