Year 3 News

This week in Year 3 has been full of exciting learning and creativity! In English, we continued exploring The Wild Robot, building on our vocabulary, discussing the emotions and actions of the main characters, and tackling the challenging skill of "show, don’t tell" in our writing. In Maths, we focused on measurement, using kilograms and grams, and learned how to find intervals on a number line. Geography was hands-on as we created colourful temperate farm posters to showcase our knowledge in a fun and imaginative way. In Art, the children amazed us with their detailed beetle drawings as part of their final pieces. Meanwhile, in RE, we explored the life of Dr Barnardo and discovered why he is seen as such an important and influential figure in history. Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the sunshine!

Year 4 News

This week in Year 4 has been packed with exciting and engaging learning!

In Maths, we’ve been exploring tenths as fractions of a whole, using number lines and whiteboards to support our understanding. The children have shown great focus when working with these new concepts.

In English, the children have proudly published their final diary entries and begun exploring our new text, I Am Not A Label. This inspiring book introduces 34 remarkable individuals living with disabilities or chronic illnesses and shows how their conditions do not define them.

In PE, we’ve been developing our badminton skills, with a focus on mastering the backhand serve. In Orienteering, teamwork has been key as children worked together to solve challenges and navigate tasks.

In RE, we have started learning about the environmental impact of single-use plastics and what we can do to protect our planet. Meanwhile, in History, we’ve been comparing the key differences between the ancient and modern Olympic Games. There were some lively discussions – especially when a few children were convinced they could run 800m in just 1 minute and 10 seconds!

Finally, we marked Victory in Europe (VE) Day, commemorating 80 years since the end of World War II. The children learned about the events of the war and reflected on the significance of this historic day.Have a fantastic weekend and enjoy the sunshine!

Year 5 News

It might have been a short week, but we have packed a lot in!

We have worked really hard in maths this week plotting data on a graph and answering data questions based on line graphs and tables.

In English we have written a detailed setting description to introduce our story, then added a character study – all based on the book we have been enjoying ‘The Children of the Benin Kingdom.’

We have begun to look who are our biggest influences – how we begin to get our world view and how this can shape the people we will grow up to become.

We have also looked at the art work of William Morris in Art, completed more geography lessons, reading comprehensions, PE and even some music clapping patterns.
