Year 3 News
This week in Year 3 has been filled with exciting learning activities! The children have been rehearsing for the upcoming Harvest Festival, and their singing has been truly amazing - everyone is looking forward to the performance! In RE, we explored the origins of names and delved into the traditions surrounding the birth of a baby in Islam, inclduing the Adhan and the naming ceremony. Georgraphy lessons took us on a journey around the UK as we learned about the different oceans and seas that surround our country, helping the children develop their map reading skills. In Maths, we practiced adding and subtracting 1s, 10s and 100s to 3 digit numbers, building confidence in mental arithmetic and understanding place value. In English, the focus was on crafting single clause sentences which we worked hard on ensuring we have capital letters and full stops! In PE, we continued with tag rugby and children created their own choreography for our dance unit. Keep up the fantastic work Year 3!
Well done, Year 4, on another fantastic week! In addition to raising awareness for World Mental Health Week by wearing yellow, we had the privilege of attending a wellbeing workshop hosted by Wirral Boys' Grammar School. The session was both insightful and engaging, offering the children important lessons on mental health and wellbeing.
In maths, the children have been working hard on adding and subtracting with exchanging, using at least one number in their calculations. In English, they've been focusing on identifying and punctuating single-clause sentences. Meanwhile, in art, the children have been experimenting with clay in preparation for next week, when they will carve their Richard Miller-inspired tiles. In music, the children have been composing simple tunes using glockenspiels and body percussion, inspired by the sounds of the rainforest. Their creations were incredibly imaginative, and they worked brilliantly with their partners to produce harmonised melodies.
Keep up the amazing work, Year 4!
