Year 3 news

This week Year 3 did a fantastic job at their Harvest Festival performance at Christ Church this Tuesday! All that hard work has paid off and Mrs Beesley and Mr William's were so impressed with their confident singing and clear voices for their lines. Well done! In Maths, we looked at carrying 1's into the 10's and 10's into the 100's which has been a challenge but all the children persevered. In Geography, we used Digimaps to explore well-known locations in Merseyside and compare the landscapes from 1960s to now. In PE, children continued to show great teamwork skills in tag rugby and created their own choreography in dance. We had a wonderful workshop with poet Ian Bland where children created their own poems that they performed to the rest of the school. We have had a incredibly busy, fun-filled week! Keep up the wonderful work Year 3!

Year 4 news 18.10.24

Great job this week, Year 4! We've had a fun and busy few days, starting with a fantastic workshop from poet Ian Bland, where you impressed us with your creative puzzle poems! Your ideas were fantstic and we've enjoyed hearing many of your poems since yesterday!

In Maths, we’ve been working on subtraction with multiple exchanges and practicing the 4 and 8 times tables—well done for your hard work! In English, we’ve been exploring the key features of persuasive letters, preparing to write our own based on the experiences of the Stone Age Boy. We’re excited to read your letters soon! In Geography, children have been researching physical and human features of Spain and recording them in a table, ready to compare data.

In Art, 4T has been etching designs into clay, creating beautiful patterns for their final pieces. Don’t forget, next Thursday is 4T’s community garden slot.

Keep up the great work, everyone!

Year 5

We’ve had a great week! We’ve looked at a Jewish place of worship, called a synagogue. We learnt about some of the important objects inside the synagogue including the eternal light, the Torah scrolls and the ark.

We have also begun our next unit in music – looking at and listening to some Blues music. We listened to different pieces and identified the instruments and the rhythms in each short piece.

We were also luck enough to have a visit from Ian Bland, he is a poet and helped us to create some amazing poems of our own. We worked together, performed as pairs and created actions to go with our poems. The whole day was amazing and all the children wrote some great poetry – some were even brave enough to stand in front of the whole school to perform theirs.

Year 6 news

Another fantastic, fun-filled week for year Year 6!

Here’s a recap of our week filled with creativity, learning, and exploration:

Poetry Workshop with Ian Bland

This week, we had the wonderful opportunity to work with Ian Bland, a talented poet. During his workshop, we explored different forms of poetry and had the chance to write our own Phantom Poem. Ian encouraged us to express our ideas through words and create a mysterious atmosphere. It was amazing to see everyone’s creativity shine! Remember to share your poems with your family!

Art Final Piece in the Style of Mike Barrett

In art, we have been inspired by the work of Mike Barrett. We spent time studying his unique style and techniques, and now it’s time to create our final pieces! Each student have produced their final piece expressing thier identity.

Science Experiment with Mould

In science class, we conducted an exciting experiment exploring mould growth. We set up different conditions to see how mould develops on bread. This hands-on activity taught us about the life cycle of mould and its importance in our ecosystem. We will be reflectlecting on our observations next week!

RE: Understanding Ramadan

In Religious Education, we learned about Ramadan and its significance for Muslims around the world. We discussed the practices involved, such as fasting and prayer, and what this holy month means for communities. It was an enriching experience that helped us understand and appreciate diverse cultures and beliefs.
