Welcome to Year 4 with Miss McKinney, Mrs Kavanagh and Mrs Blamer!
Our teaching assistants this year are Mrs Wilson and Mrs Case.
Our Year 4 team is friendly and approachable and we will always make time to speak with you about anything you might like to discuss, whether that is any concerns that you might have or simply clarifying some of the learning, for example the maths methods that we teach. Please come and say ‘hello’ and introduce yourselves as we would love to get to know you.
Twitter is a great way we can keep in touch throughout the school day and for us to share with you all the exciting and fantastic activities your children are getting up to. We will post regular photos of the work we have been doing in school.
English - Writing
Maths
This term, we will be working on numerous maths skills. These are:
-
Place Value
-
Addition and subtraction
-
Measure perimeter
-
Multiplication and division
In Summer Term, the children will be completing the National Multiplication Timestables Check. Therefore, to prepare the children as much as possible we will be having daily times tables practice through a variety of activities including rapid recall activities, songs, games, etc. The children will also be carrying out fluency activities when they come in to class in the morning. These are based on previous learning and will help to consolidate and embed their knowledge of key maths skills.
Timestables Rock stars is an excellent resource that helps children practice and improve their rapid recall and knowledge. We celebrate children’s engagement on TTRS during our assemblies.
